One of my favourite home accessories that seems to make it into almost every single one of my projects is a good set of baskets. They are functional and can be used so many different ways. They are also one of the few accessories that can be used in every type of design. Whether you lean more towards minimalistic, modern design or you love Shabby-Chic - Baskets will work either way.
Bonus - They won't break the bank, so it won't be a big decor commitment.

Basket Planters are an easy way to add warmth to a space. As seen below, smaller plants look best when you cluster them together with multiple sizes. If you're planting a large plant it will look best alone. Go for a dramatic basket that adds a lot of visual interest.
Pillow & Blanket Storage
When it's chilly outside and you want to curl up beside the fire, it's great to have a basket nearby with some extra pillows and blankets. It will add to the cozy feel of the room and they will also do double duty as storage. It's nice to switch out those heavy winter blankets for some light ones during the summer months. If you're anything like me I love to blast the air conditioning in the summer and cover myself with blankets. (Sounds kind of silly doesn't it?)
Let's face it, we all have clutter and no one likes looking at it. Whether it's toys, knick-knack paddy wacks or (in my house) 500 remote controls, baskets are a great may to tidy up the clutter. Check out some neat clutter solutions below.
I feel like I could go on and on with all of the amazing uses for baskets but I think you get the point. I would love to see what you find out there so share your amazing basket purchases with us and Hashtag #Thehomestylist.ca
